Concurrent B.S./M.S. program

Undergraduate students in Materials Science and Engineering (and other departments) have the opportunity to apply for admission to either the Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering program, or the Master of Science in Engineering Management program, before completing their undergraduate program requirements. This provides several advantages to the student:

The Whiting School of Engineering requires that students intending to complete the concurrent degree program apply no later than the end of the first semester of the senior year. The application process is the same as for the traditional M.S. degree program, but note that G.R.E. scores are not required. Inquiries about the application process should be directed to the Academic Program Coordinator ().

The degree requirements a concurrent degree are the same as those for the traditional program (M.S. or M.S.E.M.) but as noted above students may use two courses (400-level or higher) from their undergraduate program towards the graduate degree requirements. (Students pursuing the M.S.E.M. degree may double-count two courses, one materials science course and one business/management course.) The option to double-count these courses is also available to recent JHU graduates even if they did not enroll in the concurrent program prior to graduation.
