For alternative electronics, the most important advantage can be in processing, rather than the organic nature of the devices themselves. We thus extend our scope to include inorganic semiconductors such as zinc oxide. We have prepared hybrid diodes and transistors incorporating zinc oxide along with polymers and molecular solids. We demonstrated the fastest air-operable pn junction diodes yet reported, with frequencies high enough to be considered for radio frequency signal detection.
Hybrid devices
2Highlights From this ResearchHybrid devices
Solution-deposited dielectrics for low-voltage and transparent field-effect transistors
Sodium beta-alumina was solution deposited on various substrates to create a transparent dielectric layer that allowed for organic devices to be operated at low voltages.
Hybrid diodes with high speed and current density
The Katz group has developed a series of diodes which can provide high maximum current density of 160Acm-2 and which maintain maximum AC rectification up to 20MHz.
