The National Research Council has released its long-awaited rankings of doctoral programs in the United States. The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Hopkins did pretty well, ranking between 7th and 39th (out of 89 total programs) in the 21 areas surveyed. Of particular note are high rankings in the number of citations per faculty member, percentage of faculty members with grants, percentage of new students with full support, and percentage of students who complete their degrees.
